U.S. Customs and Border Protection Announces Updated ACE Timeline

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has recently published an updated ACE timeline. On March 31, 2016 the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) will become the new system through which the trade community will have to participate in. Below is a brief overview of the updated timeline provided on the CBP website.
Note:
On 3/31/16 entry summaries for the entry types shown will be required to be filed in ACE, but only PGA’s NHTSA & Lacey are required to be filed for ACE Cargo release.  If there is no PGA data, the Entry can be certified for release in ACS.
On 5/28/16 entry summaries for the entry types shown will be required to be filed in ACE and certified for release in ACE regardless of the PGA data; however, all entry summaries must be filed in ACE, certified for ACE Cargo release if it has PGA data for NHTSA or Lacey.
All other entities, including the US Census Bureau (export controls) will be brought into production by CBP as time and resources dictate.  Any PGA that has been piloted by the stakeholders can be filed with the entry summary in ACE, certified for ACE Cargo release prior to the mandatory dates posted.
